I heard that the Chevelle was restored after 30 years. My dad did the suspension in 1974 and the car made the front cover of Hot Rod in July 1975. Heard the car was going to be at Hot August Nights so my sons kidnapped me and took me up there. Glad they did, this car still has the original paint and looks bad ass.

a blast from the past! still see some of those straight axle cars running at our events. interesting to say the least. dont think i would drive one though. seem a little too elevated for high speed to me.

All the rage back in the day. Today everyone wants a low rider. In 1969 only Mexicans residing in the valley did that sort of thing. Every one else was jacking up the front end to pretend to be a Gasser or jacking up the rear end to pass as a FX car with the biggest rear tires they could find (those L60's today are considered to be small).

I never followed trends or car fashions striving to build sleepers that could pass for your mom's car (widened steel wheels with full hub caps, no stripes and a lot of money invested in big pipes with bigger mufflers to keep the noise down). Put all of my money into power train and light weight fiberglass front ends doors and trunk parts. Never painted the car after putting on primer grey glass parts.

yeah, most of our builds are sitting on the ground. personally, i like them just a little below stock ride height. i drive the sh!t out of my cars so i dont want them bouncing off the pavement.

My first 64 Chevelle had a strait front axle, and would do the violent death wobble under certain conditions.
I am with you on the ride hight, mine are at stock or slightly below so I don't tear the front air dam off every time I pull into a parking lot.
