Hi, My name is Danielle. I'm 19 and am just starting to enjoy customly making my own vehicle. I have abeautiful 2wd 90 chevy scotsdale pickup and well my transmission died. It presently has it's stock 700R4 transmission in it, and I have aquired a 350 turbo transmission equipped with a stage 2 shift kit and some kind of stall converter. Unfortuneatly I just visited my local transmission shop and they told me there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to make the swap... this can't be true... can it? They said something about how u can't hook up the speedo, and a whole bunch of other stuff. That there is no modifications to make the switch work. This can't be true? Can it?? Help me PLEASE, I don't have two grand to sink into a new or even rebuild transmission.

I wouldn't recommend the swap. IMO you would be taking a step backwards. You won't have an overdrive transmission anymore. The speedo on the 700R4 is probably an electronic speedo now so it will not hook up. You'll also have to deal with getting a different driveshaft, moving the crossmember, connecting the kick down.

I'd recommend to sell the turbo 350 and take the money and rebuild or buy a 700R4.

Hi Danielle,
I'm with SMOKEmUP on this one. Not only will you miss the overdrive, you'll wonder where the performance went. The 700R4 has a lower first gear ratio. The Turbo 350 will feel like you're taking off in second gear. When you reinstall the tranny also replace the torque converter.

oooh.... y'know thats the 3rd time I've heard that, well I obviously know NOTHING about transmissions....at all..hehe, I figured the 350turbo would have to be better, and the shift kit and stall converter just made it sound soo tempting

if you are using this for perfomance then id sugest to do some internal mods to the trans things that will make it stonger and also id use a tru-cool cooler in-line with the stock cooler on any vehichle stock or otherwise.....that way it will last longer under harsh circumstances
