Oil Catch Cans for LSx Engines

The LSx engines have a PCV system that has been redesigned numerous times since 1997, but GM still hasn't solved the problem. The problem is oil being pulled into the intake at idle through the PCV valve. This causes an oil consumption issue, sludge buildup on the intake and exhaust ports, on the valves, on the combustion chambers and on top of the pistons. This problem can be solved by adding an oil catch can inline between the valley tube and PCV valve. Check your throttlebody and intake for oil. Symptoms are smoke at start-up, under heavy acceleration, and poor gas mileage. Oil in the intake reduces the octane content. I would recommend the use of a decarbonizer to clean the intake valves and combustion chambers. Sea Foam is a good cleaner and can be found at Autozone for about $7.00. This should be administered through the PCV valve on a hot motor at idle.
