I am taking a Muncie in tomorrow on trade, but I would like to know how to ID it. I had thought that the difference between M21 and M22 was that the M22 'Rockcrusher' had straight cut gears, but looking at the pictures in the following auction-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33733&item=2424255088

I can't see the difference, maybe I'm blind or just tired...?

So, what is the visable diff in these? And, what is an M20?

'Bout what are these 3 trannies worth? Thanks-Hanz

Hanz, here are some sites which may help. It is my understanding that Muncies are difficult to I.D.
www.67camaro.net/decode/transmis.htm
www.interlog.com~muncie/history.html
www.sprektech.com/nova/muncie.html
www.nastyz28.com/transid.html
www.gtoalley.com/transns.html

Hope this helps, Richard.

After doing some research, I see the cases are all the same, and the inspection cover would have to be pulled. I had always heard that M22 had straight cut gears, and that description is even on the web, but now I see that the gears are actually just a slightly smaller angle than the M21. Thanks-Hanz
