im getting close to finishing my 9" and realized i need to put a vent on it. so, at risk of sounding like an idiot, where exactly would be the best place for it ? on the top of the center section ? on the axle tube ? or on the back of the cover ? im thinking about 2 o'clock on the pass side, top of the center section (as viewed from the rear). any better ideas ?

I dont think it really matters it will vent the cases pressure on the tube or the case. I'd say where ever you think it looks best. Mine is on the tube right off of the case about a inch or so.

I would go with the location that Chad mentioned. I would think there is a tremendous amount of oil spray inside the center section that might require some sort of baffle / shield setup. Going down the tube a little bit would get into a more "shielded" area and prevent any oil from coming out of the vent. Clay

Get a remote vent kit from a FWD place. They sell them to guys who play in the mud to keep water out of the rear end. That way you can mount it high on the roll cage centered away from tires (comes with about three foot of hose).

well, i already have my vent. i just forgot to weld it on and now that i have the housing straight i hate to weld anything else to the tubes. heres what my vent looks like...

actually now that i think about it, i dont have to weld the bung on. i could just drill and tap the tube and screw it in. it just never occurred to me until now. thanks guys.
