Hello i'm building a 57 chevy. some specs. 400+hp 350/th350
+ 100 shot off a bottle. 4.11, 3200 stall for now until i finish my 600+hp 406 im doing a three link and mini tubes. i'd like to do a four link, but i want to keep my back seat. any ways the ? i have is how much it weighs total and how much at the back tires. also
what would be a good tire dia./width/soft or hard. im hoping with
alot of tuning and some luck i can brake in to the 12s with the 350
and into the 11s with the 406. am i on the right track or not even
close. thanks for your input.

i will drive it on the street, but i live in maine, so we can do almost
any thing we want. im keeping the steel nose, but i cut out all the stock suspention. and bought competition engineering ladder link , 3 way ajustable coil over shock and panhard, 12bolt from a chevelle had that cut down 6in.

take it to a local truck weigh station and get front, rear, and total weights. they arent 100% accurate but it will get you in the ball park. i think (and i may be wrong) you would have to back half the car to go with a 4-link. you could use ladderbars and floaters along with the leaf springs without too much cutting. as far as the tires, ill wait for someone that can give a better answer than i can. although, we will need to know what your intention is with the car... street, street/strip, race only ???? _________________

I bought scales to address the same issue. You have to know the front to back bias and the left to right bias to get that # Without scales you don't have a clue.
Some will argue but that is the only way I know to start.
You also need to know the bias right to left with the front end off the ground in the center of the car to get a start point on setting the suspension. |
