I am looking to install a 200r4 tranny in a '66 Olds that now has a TH400 behind a stock 425 motor. The lock-up converter for the 200 has a different bolt pattern than the converter for the 400. Is there a flexplate that will bolt up to the 425 and accept the new converter or will I have to have the existing flexplate re-drilled? Any advice will be appreciated.

Hello Big olds,
Drilling the flex plate is not legal for competition but you might want to contact the guys at Mondello Performance. They might have the answer as they are the Olds experts. I'm assuming you checked that the crank pilot on the converter fits into the crank properly also.

dont buy from "MONDOLLAR". check out www.realoldspower.com. theres a LOT of Olds builders and suppliers there. you may just want to read the archives instead of posting first. those guys sometimes get a bit grumpy.

I never realized that the flexplate was going to be such an issue since the 200R4 tranny is a dual mount BOP/Chevy from the factory. Getting the tranny and your choice of torque converter will be a piece of cake compared to the flex plate; as I can not find a single SFI vendor for and early Olds to 200R4.

It is apparently a special market item. The good news is a lot of people are using this tranny with a LS-x engine now which requires a special flexplate so there is a demand, and where there is a demand the market usually fills the void. It appears you will need to research this some more.
